Ms. Crocker says a 3-cent raise in our taxes is only a $150 increase on a $500,000 property Ms. Crocker; gas prices are only reaching $4 a gallon, grocery prices have only gone up 40 percent, fuel prices to heat cor cool our homes have only doubled and the taxpayer's biggest asset, his home, has only fallen 30 to 40 percent in value. Two letters written last week in the Rappahannock News referred to the efficiency review as stating that Rappahannock schools, for the most part, “run efficiently and in a costeffective way" The MGT report does not say that. It makes 23 commendations but also makes 78 recommendations.
Of the 78 recommendations, only one has been partially addressed. The recommendations on the food service alone could save as much as $100,000, hot has yet to be addressed. Many other recommendations in transportation, purchasing, record keeping, technology and others could potentially save thousands of dollars in this budget and future budgets.
