/"Yn Friday evening April 25k the V-rBoard of Supervisors will meet to hear public comments on the budget proposed by the Rappahannock School Board. This budget is under attack and its opponents are bringing great pressure to bear on the Board of Supervisors to cut further the budget which the School Board hax alreudy reduced. If you believe in building a stronger public school system for our children, you should contact your Supervisor in person or byphone or letter before the Friday evening meeting and make clear to him your concerns.
The attack on the school budget is misplaced. The school budget has been shrinking, not growing as a percentage of the annual county budget. Further, a recent study by an independent state authorised body found that the School Board and Superintendent were under spending, not over spending. Unfounded charges that the school system was inefficient could not be sustained by the evidence.
