Going back to the speed analogy is 90 kph speeding, but 55 mph not (remember that 90 kph = 55.8 mph)?
The state trooper may not care, but the radar gun still marks the difference, and there are some things that don’t have the subjective capability to distinguish situations.
“Job applications for instance,” said Jung are a great example. Some students may elect not to go to college, and nobody is going to care whether they went to a more difficult school or not.
Other schools are changing to the 10- point scale, said Jung, “and it’s not just to make it easier on the kids."
“It’s to give everyone the same chance after high school when they enter the real world."
