Supporters for the Trash Free Rappahannock Project came to the Board of Supervisors meeting on March 1 and received the support they wanted for their cause. County resident John Kiser asked the board to endorse a resolution calling for a long-term commitment to protect the natural beauty of the county, and spoke about the importance of not just collecting roadside trash, but of educating the public not to litter. James W. “Bill” Fletcher III was honored by the Rappahannock Historical Society on Sunday afternoon for his vital role in bringing the county’s striking new historical map to life. Mr. Fletcher received print #1 of the limited edition map signed by map maker Eugene Scheel. In Sunday’s Bland Music Contest, Samantha Breedan, won first place vocal in the high school division for singing “Cry me a River. Nicole Marie Espinola won first place instrumental in the elementary school division for playing “Winter Wind on the piano. The two young ladies will represent the county in the District competition on March 20.
