The Scholastic Bowl win is not just a reflection of the children themselves, their parents, and teachers but on the kind of education that our county has to offer.
In Rappahannock County, it’s cool to be smart. It’s also cool to be a district and region champion wrestler, and to place second in state.
It’s even cool to grow vegetables and have every other nearby district wanting to know just how it’s done here. They may even be wondering if there is anything in the food we grow that makes our kids smarter.
It’s organic. But that’s another story.
AVecan certainly say that we are proud of our champions, and we will be cheering them on as the Quiz Bowl team now heads to the national championship competition in Chicago. Illinois next month..
That’s right.
This team - Austin “AJ” Collins, Austin Burnett, Tyler Crews, Steven Nelson, Brittany Clatterbuck, Cullen McCarthy, Taylor Light, Greg Czekaj, Malcolm Perry, Tessa Crews, Freddie Oldenburg, and Eli Ashby - might very well put Rappahannock on the national map as well.
Congratulations to the team, coach David Naser, the teachers at Rappahannock County public schools (many of them went to elementary school here too), the students, parents and staff, and to Dr. Bob Chappell.
Go Panthers!
