But whence order? The Founding Fathers and I agree that for us humans, it must come first from within (“Freedom consists not in ; doing what we like, but in having the right to do what we ought.” (John Paul II, October 1995) He wasn’t a founding Father, but I bet he read them.) As our second president observed, you either regulate yourselves responsibly (“freedom”) or you have order imposed on you, which they called “tyranny”. But where do we turn to resolve questions about enacting those principles, gqt f*rth eloquently but, " not IfcimptehensiveJy in the ** Declaration and Constitution? For our Founding Fathers, the proper ultimate source was their Christian faith, which underlays the principles of the government they sought to create. And that created the prosperity that brought this nation to a greater economic and cultural stature than any other civilization in history.
