Superintendent Dr. Bob Chappell, school principal Adam Burket and several teachers, made the trip from Rappahannock County to Williamsburg to watch the Panthers play. Such incredible support carried the Panthers.
“I think it made a big difference that these people took time out of their day, out of their weekend to come down and see us play” Clatterbuck said. “It was amazing. You didn’t want to miss a history question because Mr. West and Mr. Hrabak were there or a Latin question with Mr. Sharpe there or a poetry or English question with Ms. Delcour there. These teachers and others were the ones who taught us, and you wanted to make them proud.”
Collins agreed.
“I did not want to lose,” he added. “You bring all those people there. Losing stinks.”
The Panthers, who previously won the district and Region B titles, began their day with a 260-45 win over Region C runner-up Auburn.
