The Panthers proceeded to score on eight of the next nine questions to clinch the championship.

Junior Steven Nelson started the scoring by nailing a vocabulary question on the word panel.

“Steve had gotten three interruptions on the day, but I knew he would come through in the clutch for us. He always does,” Collins said. “He gets that one question that we need to have. I sit there in awe of some of the stuff that he knows that no one else will know.”

Collins capped the run with the answer Ireland on a political parties question.

“I sit sometimes on Wikipedia and look at what people would say are the stupidest things like Ireland’s political parties,” he said with a laugh. “It's ironic. I’m Irish, and we clinched on Irish political parties.”

Then, Collins instructed ", Nelson, Clatterbuck and Tyler Crews to lay down their buzzers.
