The job that will be open in May is indeed a challenging one, as director of the Next Step program at the Rappahannock County High School. Another difficult job will be to And a successor to the woman who started the program four years ago, Miranda Hope. Hope is leaving because she is having a baby.

The folks at the Headwaters Foundation, which supports many educational activities in the county, including Next Step, have handed their own personnel committee the assignment of coming up with a new director.

By all accounts in the school* milieu, Hope’s will be very big | shoes to fill. Before she began Next Step, four years ago, fewer than half the county’s high school graduates were going on to something meaningful, such as college, training for a trade, or military service. That fraction is now roughly three-fourths.
