Rappahannock County public schools may be heading in a new direction.
With the announced retirement of School Superintendent Dr. Bob Chappell the opening of two school board seats - although one uncontested - and two supervisor seats, the stage is set for rapid shifts in policy.
All the candidates express the need to make significant changes and most of those relate to the budget and character of the schools which comprises about half of the county's budget.
Chris Parrish of Amissville and Terry Dixon of Castleton will be vying for the Stonewall-Hawthorne seat on the Board of Supervisors.
Dixon is the Chairman of the Rappahannock Republican Committee, and has his own real estate business. He and his wife, Mary, moved to the county eight years ago. They have a daughter, Jaclyn. 17. who just graduated from Rappahannock County High School.
Tom dunk of Sperrwille and Mike Biniek of Belle Meade Farm and School will face off for the Piedmont District seat on the Board of Supervisors.
Junk stepped into the race after Peter Hitchen abruptly withdrew his candidacy for the same seat.
