Class of 2009

It’s the end of a journey for the Rappahannock County High School class of 2009. It was a journey that was lengthy and arduous, but well worth the trip. On June 13, some 88 graduates walked across the stage and received their diplomas. They matched in blue gowns and caps and sat patiently beside their classmates. They smiled for pictures and hugged proud family members and friends. They celebrated, socialized, and opened cards and presents. They possibly shed a tear for the path behind them. Luckily, a new journey for the young graduates has begun. So as they pack their bags and move on to the next phase of life, let them be reminded of their accomplishments.

These seniors have been the leaders in the school and set the bar high for classes to follow. They’ve been state champions, record-breaking athletes, scholarship winners, and altogether an enthusiastic group. Let them remember that spirit for the rest of their lives, whether they choose to go off to college or work. Let them remember to shoot for the moon, for even if they miss, they will land among the stars. We take our hats off to this great group of young people and wish them well as they prepare for the bigger world. They will be missed, but this community has equipped them well for their new challenges. May they never forget Rappahannock or their journey to the top. And with another class leaving, a new one must fill its place. Graduates from the seventh- grade class of Rappahannock County Elementary School will be moving to RCHS this fall. These students graduated on June 11, also ending a journey from childhood and now becoming young adults. As eighth graders, they have big shoes to fill. May every footprint they leave be an example for those who will follow. We congratulate these students as they move on in their lives. I
