Matthew Clay Gore’s class graduation ceremony was May 16 at Lamar University.
However, on that day, Matt did not “walk” with his class.
The Lamar University baseball team was playing the final regular season series against Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
In that series, he worked one inning in relief, faced three batters, allowed no hits and struck out one.
Matt earned a Bachelor of General Studies degree with a final grade point average of 3.14 and was selected to the Southland Conference Capital One Bank / Commissioner's Honor Roll.
He has, accepted a position as assistant coach with the Lamar University Baseball Program.
Matt is the son of Linda Kay Broome Gore and Milton C. Gore, -Jr. of Orange, Texas and Washington, Va.
