These people, according to the World Health Organization, lack access to basic hand-washing soap to the degree that children contract diarrheal and respiratory illnesses that are often fatal.

“We read a blurb about CTW in June, in the Green Lodging newsletter, and immediately, we thought, “This is a no-brainer,”’ says Michelle Schwartz, who owns and. runs the five-room bed and breakfast with husband Gary Schwartz

“We just thought it would have a two-pronged effect," she says. “We’d be reducing waste, and doing something. in our own small way, to help people who need help."
