Off to the races The Virginia fall steeplechase season kicks off with the 2009 running of the Thornton Hill Hounds Point-to-Point Races on Saturday, Sept. 12. A full afternoon of racing is scheduled including flat, hurdle and timber races, as well as the traditional foxhound race. The races are held at the beautiful Thornton Hill racecourse, two miles south of Sperryville. First race begins at 12:30 p.m. and gates open at 10:30 a.m. General admission is $20 per car.
