A study by the Traffic and Safety committee was concluded at the session when instructions were given the Town Manager to place four additional traffic con trol signs at troublesome inter sections. Stop signs will be placed on the west side of Madison street at Pme. the west side of Beech street at St. Ge:rge. and the east and west sides of Chambers street at Ely, A "dangerous corner" sign will be placed at Vaughan street at the entrance to Second street.. The signs will be placed in the next week, the manager reports Licenses Garnted Applications for If! taxi licen ses. representing ten separate operating individuals or firms were given favorable action. The council declined a request by the Junior Chamber of Com merce for waiver of the usual license requirements in connec tion with the JC's proposed plac ing of chewing gum vending machines. Refusal was based on council's •stand of making no exceptions to this municipal requirement for either commercial or non-profit ventures.
