The importance of discovering mental irregularities ea^ly was stressed by Dr. Wender as one of the compelling rea sons for low-cost psychiatric treatment. Said Dr. Wender: "It is important that people be able to get psychiatric help immediately . . . . Anyone who comes to the center will re ceive prompt attention. Psycho-analytic psycho-therapy is the help offered includ ing all types of treatment, in few or many visits. Whatever the patient needs, we will try to help him find.” The effort to get psychiatric treatment on a level with the common man, and to remove the stigma attached to mental ill ness, is certainly a major undertaking. Without some such cooperation, as is being , provided in New York the fight will be a long and often disappointing one. If the, example of the League’s action is copied by those in other communities over the na tion, progress in the battle against mental disease may be speeded up considerably. t
