Man Arrested After Cun Battle In Bank At Phenix Carter Captures Would-Be Robber At Charlotte Line State Trooper T. W. Carter, Jr., of Worsham, arrested a man who tried to hold up the Phenix Bank in Charlotte coun ty, about 2 p. m., Wednesday. He arrested-a Negro identified as Martin Lewis Jennings. 34, at the intersect.on of Routes 594 and 26, near the Appomattox-Char lotte ccunty line. The attempted bank robbery failed after a gun battle inside the bank between the would-be robber and an assistant cashier.
