After all, broom sedge is The Great Farmer's donation as a last resort to save a field from which man has taken all fertility. When man then uses fire to destroy the sedge, he is at the lowest pdint. He has even destroyed the sedge which would, at least, ■dop the rains from washing away what little soil value that was left.
The statement, “no damage resulted," should have been “no buildings destroyed, but the blackened field is now devoid of the sedge which might have been mowed and turned into food for the already poor soil.”
