Talk On Social Security

On Thursday we were fortunate to have Miss Cokey talk to • us about' Social Security.
The words Social Security have become popular in the last ten years. Social security for children rests on a partnership of family effort, government services and private facilities. The purpose is to strengthen the home life of America’s children through assurance of a minimum income and to promote the welfare of children through specialized public services in the community.
The security of children, wives and aged parents, does not depend on the willingness of their family to support them. It’s written into our laws; enforced in our courts. It is a form of social security because as a society we see to it that members of a family give th,is support when they can, whether they wish to or not. Our greatest success is making life safes- for children. The Social Security Act helps to provide some income to people who are little able or unable to earn. What we want today is what American! Ihave always wanted and worked for. Our security is the security of the whole people.
