other furnishings, and the period of the room, (b) It must be durable, firmly woven, with no long floats that are easily pulled, (c) It must be a fabric that does not deteriorate easily when exposed to the sun moisture, air and dust, (d) It must be a fabric that is beautiful, one that will bring not only immediate but long time satisfaction. A slip cover fabric must be strong material that will stand much strain. The heavier and more firmly woven materials will not wrinkle easily, are free from excessive sizing, and dust resisting. It is wise to buy the best material you can afford unless yo»u< wish to use the slip cover f< r only a short while. When selecting either drapery or slip cover materials, if possible, bring one or two yard sample to try in the room. Figured materials show soil less than plain material used with a figure, (e) Both slip cover and drapery material should be one that is vat dyed and pre shrunk. This means that the material is nearly fast to tub and “light and ^won’t shrink more than 1 per cent. Some 'materialsare marked color fast or shrinkatized. This means that the materia! is only fast to the sun and is not guaranteed that it won’t shrink more than 1 per cent, (f) The material should be heavy to hang well for both draperies and slip covers, (g) Be sure the drape material you buy is at least 48 inches wide.
