Chicken Eludes Pursuer
Mrs. Pullen, having bought her groceries, was ridmg home on the school bus.
As she got up to leave the bus, her packages became jumbled and while attempting to capture the fugitive parcels, somehow in the confusion a chicken she had bought, wandered out of its proper position, and into the seat of the bus.
Thinking she had all her packages, Mrs. Pullen went home minus the chicken. Missing it she began a thorough search.
Meanwhile several boys on the bus pitched the old dead chicken, as they supposed it to be, out the window.
Result: Mrs. Pullen’s menu wras slightly changed; from chicken, a’ la’ mare to beans a’ la’ mare.
