F.W. Elects Officers
V.F.W. Post No 1150 elected officers at the March meeting at Sperryville Monday evening. Commander, J. Bradley Atkins; first vice-commander J. Rodes Brown, Jr.,; second, A. J. Dodson; quarter master, Carson Johnson; trustee, Col. B. F. Miller; chaplain, James Atkins; color bearers, Linwood Fyre and George Taylor; color guaids, Charlie Cloud, Elmer Clark; officer of the day, P. Lee Thornton; and post Sergeant, W. M. Brown. Committees will be appointed at a future date. There are 66 paid members in the organization.
Jett William Brady
Jett William Brady died Tuesday March 14, of a sudden heart attack, on the porch of Bradford’s Store in -Flint Hill. He was 56 years of age and lived on the farm of H. S. Barksdale near Flint Hill, where he had worked as a carpenter and stone mason for a number of years.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Flint Hill on Friday, at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. Norman J. Flythe, pastor* of the church officiating. Interment was in the Methodist church cemetery at Flint Hill.
Hymns which were sung at the funeral were “Beautiful Garden of Prayer” and “Old Rugged Cross.”
Active pallbearers were B. J. Wood, H. S. Barksdale, Herbert Foster, Thomas Eastham, M. R. Bradford, and Randolph Foster.
He is survived by a son, Clyde Brady of Columbus, Ohio, and one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Phillippy of Harrisonburg, and two grandchildren, Claude and Paula Phillipy. His wife was the formed Ella Beddows.
