It is suggested that the prize money won by the groups could lie used to Ifelp defray group trucking costs.
All heifers must be calfhood vaccinated against Bang’s, Blackleg, and against shipping fever. This should be done not more than two weeks prior to the Show, or less than 14 days before. The heifers must be ..duly registered in the member’s own name.
Every assistance possible will be given members in locating calves at reasonable prices by Dabe Canning, Fieldman-Secretary Virginia Aberdeen Angus Association, Inc., P.O. Box 93, Charlottesville, Virginia. When the heifers are ready to breed, free service to good bulls will be made available. In the event of light or no entries in one or more classes, and more than ten entries in any one class, additional premiums will be awarded in that class at the discretion of the Steering Committee. Ribbons will be awarded in all classes. Mr. O. B. Ross, County Agent, Amherst county is chairman of the Steering committee, and will appoint others to assist him.
The prize money for this event is being donated by the N.&W. Industries, Lynchburg, through the generosity of its president, Mr. L. W. Turner, owner of Old Elkton Farm, Forrest, Va.
To date two 4-H boys have indicated interest in this project: Carlyle Lea, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Lea of Washington, and Jimmie Yates, son of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Yates of Huntly.
