Planning to seed any alfalfa or ladino clover this August? If so, better start scouting around for some good seed. If it’s ladino you’re going to plant, be sure it’s certified; if it is alfalfa, be sure it is Kansas Common or Oklahoma Approved. Seedsmen or farmers seeking sources of these seeds may get such from this office.
* * * Japanese beetles will be coming out before long. Protective spraying with 2 lbs. of 50% wettable DDT per 100 gallons of water is recommended to kill the adult beetle but don’t fail to use milky disease spore dust in protecting pasture or lawn sods.

Spelling Bee To Be Held
At Washington June 30
• An old-fashioned “Spelling ‘Bee” i "for the benefit _of Washington Baptist Church Building Fund will be held in the high school auditorium .At Washington June 30 at 8 p.m. Rev. Paul Thompson will give out the word* and Rev. M. E. Sliger and Ned Jones will act as judges.
At least 40 contestants are expected to compete. Already entered in the “Spelling Bee” are Miss Margaret Compton, “Mr. Willie” Compton, Mrs. W. L. Keyser, Mrs. L. V. Merrill, R. L. Massie, Jr., Mrs. Matilda Walker, W. F. Moffett, Jr., Prof. fi. B. Winfrey, Mrs. E. M. Jones, Mrs. Louise M. Price, Rayner Snead, Mrs. Ben Cox, and Mrs. Bob Massie.
Anyone wishing to match their twits in the “battle of the letters”, may inform Mrs. F. D. Wood, Mrs. L. J. Turner, or Mrs. E. M. Jones.
If you’re one of those timid souls who prefers to sit on the sidelines, buy a ticket and be sure of a ringside seat.
