TO TAKE PART IN RECITAL
Miss Betty Johnson of Sperryville -will take part in a piano recital in Pitts Theatre, Culpeper, Sunday, June 25, at 5 o’clock. Miss Johnson is the fourth young lady of the Sperryville community to be heard in programs of piano music lately. Miss Bernice iNethers and Miss Margaret Ann Devers were in a program June 11, and Miss Elizabeth Smith took part in the program June 18.
W.M.S. MEETING HELD AT “SHINGLE SHANTY”
The Woman’s Missionary Society of Reynolds Memorial Baptist church met Saturday afternoon at “Shingle Shanty” the home of Mrs. Holmes Hall. Mrs. B. F. Miller led the program. At the conclusion of the meeting refreshments were served by the hostess.

4-H Short Course at VP1
Plans are nearly cor-ydete for the 27th annual State 4-H Short Course to be held at V.P.I., June 26 to July 1, under the general theme, “Better Living for a Better World. .
Ten 4-H members from Rappahannock will attend; six boys and four girls.
State club officials say. the program will be much the same as in former years, except that more emphasis will be put on leadership development. Classes in recreational leadership will be spotlighted, as will discussion groups to be led by Dr. Law-rence Taylor, consultant, adult education department, Michigan State College.
The Short Course "will be preceded by the All Star conference, beginning June 23. The All Stars will remain *in session throughout the Short Course, and the climax of the entire program will come with the All Star initiation and candlelighting ceremony on Friday night, June 30, when outstanding 4-H’ers will be taken into the chapter.
