Mrs. Edith Jenkins Updike, 38, and her daughter, Joyce May Updike, 2, died Saturday, June 17.
Funeral services for Mrs. Updike and her daughter were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Washington Baptist church, of which Mrs. Updike was a member. Rev. M. E. Sliger, pastor of the church officiated. Interment was in the family section of the Masonic Cemetery at Washington.
Active pallbearers were B. R. Updike, Willie Payne, L. H. Jenkins, Clarence Racer, Wood Burke and Mahlon Ramey. Mrs. Updike is survived by her husband, Ernest Updike and her father. G, Frank Jenkins; her mother, Mrs. Ada Berry Jenkins died three years ago; one son, William and three daughters, Lilliah, Cordia and Ernestine; three brothers and four sisters. Thomas ' Jenkins and George Jenkins of Luray; and Edward Jenkins of Culpeper; Mrs. Ada Noakes of Mildale, Mrs. Annie Hubert of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Etta Bee Kines of Front Royal; and Mrs. „ Elizabeth Keats of Washington.
