Court was in session at the . time of Mr. Compton's death and Judge Alexander appointed Miss Margaret to fill the unexpired ■ term which had started a few months prior to the date, February 1936. Ever since that • date Miss Margaret has qualified as a _ candidate and has been unopposed.
She is the only Justice of the Peace in the county. Up to a few years ago there wa3 another at Sperryville and many years ago there were three magistrates in each district.
Miss Margaret writes warrants for all the surrounding communities. The Trial Justice office takes the duties of holding court in present times, but Miss Margaret was helping her father when he tried many cases.
To Attend Wedding In
Charlottesville Saturday
Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Johnston and family plan to leave Friday for Charlottesville where Mrs. Johnston will be matron-of-honor when her sister, Miss Helen Tanner, becomes the bride of Harry Willoughby. The wedding* will take place Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the First Christian Church.
