The distance to which the young apples are thinned depends upon the variety upon the sdt of fruit and on the condition of the trees, In other words on the vigor of the trees and the condition of the foliage. In the case of wineaap the distance between fruits should be from d to 12 inches even greater on the drooping branches and ,those on the inside of the tree that are not well exposed to light. The spacing should be greatest fot the lower one third of the tree with a smaller distance between fruits in the upper part of the tree where terminal growth is longer the leaves are larger and greener.
