Dorothy Lee Dodson, who has been critically ill .for several weeks in the University of Virginia hospital in Charlottesville, has returned to the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lester Dodson, where die is steadily improving.

Dr. and Mrs. W. G. Pendleton accompanied Mrs. John Elliott and son Billy to Washington, D.C., Monday, where she took a train for her home in Fanwood, Nj. —Mrs. Elliott and Billy have been staying at the “Rectory” for a two week's visit with her parents. - . Mrs. Alice Jenkins, of Boyce, is visiting her niece Mrs. A. M. Vemev, to be near her brother Frank Compton, who is quite ill - at his home near Smedley.

Mrs. Joseph B. Johnson entertained at a family dinner on Sunday, celebrating the birthday anniversary of Air. Johnson . and thfeir grandson Joseph Gordon Payne of Madison. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. H. Gordon Payne Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schaefer, and their daughter Susan.

R. M. Johnson was an overnight patient in a Charlottesville hospital Monday night, he was accompanied by C. B. Johnson, who was an over-night guest of his son Jimmy Johnson a medical student in the University.

Col. B. F. Miller attended the funeral services for his aunt Miss Nancy Taylor in Louisa Friday.

It should be emphasized here that the varieties mentioned here • should be planted on a trial basis only unless they have been previously tested in the area under consideration. Afterglow also is appreciably more hardy to blossoming frosts than those varieties. Growers of fruit for home use and local markets whose orchard sites do not have good air drainage should consider planting some of these frost resisting . sorts.
