With the fact approaching and of tho 1950-61 hunting aeaaon, Saturday, January 20, 'thousands of the state’s fanners, landowners, and sportsmen are already beginning to plan for food and cover for farm game in the coming year.
The steady increase in the farm game program over the past few years Has been reflected in a noticeable increase in the amount of upland game in the improved areas. ,
Game technicians of the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries who held a two-day meeting in Richmond last week reported that more and more interest is being shown by the landowners and the sportsmen toward the program. It was pointed out at the meeting that farm game improvement work in Appomattox county alone during the past year was carried on on over 48,000 acres of land. v Farmers and others who are interested 4n the program for their own lands are urged to contact their county warden as early as possible this year, as the amount of commission supplied seed and shrubs is limited, and 'must be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
