This Is an all important spray for the control of scab. It is also the time to begin working on cod* ling moth leaf roller and curcullo. Where scab and the three insects mentioned above are the big problem and the weather is cool, liquid lime sulphur at the rate of six quarts of flotation sulphur, twelve pounds, or eight pounds of other paste sulphur, plus six pounds of sporay lime and three pounds of lead arsenate will do the job. For growers who have had trouble with rusts and red mite, then it would* be advisable to use flotation sulphur, eight pounds, or six pounds of other good paste sulphur, and three-fourths pound of 15 per cent parathion powder in each one hundred gallons. The lead arsenate may be omitted in this spray, but if the lead arsenate is left out, the parathion should be'increased to two pounds. This spray should^ not be started until most of the petals have dropped. Before starting this spray it would be well to go over the orchard and make some careful observations as ,to just what the disease and insect situation is like. Such a check-up will only take a little time, but It may pay big dividends. Tba First Cover Spray

By this time scab usually is less of a problem, but in tome seasons oar worst scab weather comes just shout the time the first cover spray is pot on. If it should turn out that weather is rainy, this spray is very important for scab and rust control. If the grower is interested in scab control only, then ten pounds of flotation culphur or six pounds of other good - sulphur paste is the fungicide to us. Where cedar and quince rusts have caused trouble or if the weather is rainy, than it would be best to use a combination spray using eight pounds of flotation sulphur or five pounds of other good ulphur paste plus one pound of Fer. bam in each one hundred gallons of spray. The use of Ferbam will increase the cost of the spray, but it would bo more coetly to take chances with rusts. This spray is vary important for the control of codling moth, curculio, and leaf roller especially for leaf roller so insecticides should be added. What insecticides to use' will depend upon the insect situation.
