Georg© Bishop, on Oliver Durant’s “Odd Man", lead most of the way in the fourth race, Hie Rappahannock Bowl, and faded in •the stretch to give the lead to Wade H. Hassle HI on “Cigarette" and John Hartigan on Mrs. Alan D; Kinsley's “Forest Gray” who photo-finished with Hartigan ahead. .
Greenaway, tiding “Happy", led all the way, with plenty to spare, in the fifth race, The Mount Marshall. Wesley Dennis was in second place to receive the heavy weight trophy. (Greenaway received the lightweight trophy in the second race.) Sidney Culver took third place.
AH .trophies were appropriately engraved and marked with the RH insignia of Rappahannock Hunt, donating all the trophies exoept that for the Battle Run, which was given by Mrs. Maurice Fitzgerald of Washington, D.C.
The hound race started with about 25 hounds and Gabe Burke’s ring-necked red came in the winner. Some of the hounds jumped another fox, supposedly, and took off into the mountains and a few didn’t return until Tuesday.
It is estimated that a crowd of ever 1500 saw the races and State Trooper Buntin reported an estimate of 350 cars parked. The crowd iwas one of the Ingest ever seen at any event of this kind in the county and reminded some of the days of the horse shows of a few years back.
The course was declared excellent and hopes were expressed that the event will become an annual affair;
