Across the yard from the Cooper home is the quaint old log house that was'once the home of George Cooper, known as the “fortyniner.’^He wu John Richdrd's father and ho, it was, who went to the goldfields of California in % 1849 and like so many others re* turned to his home rich in experience and Indian lore while bringing home a small share of gold.
The “Old Cooper Housd** has blossomed into “Apple Tree Cottage." It bears witness to the fact that two artists lire there now, by name of Mr. and Mrs. Hening.
