Sperryville Parents Give
Teachers Confidence Vote
The Sperryville Parent-Teacher Association at its meeting April 1, unanimously passed the follow* ing resolution:
The Sperryville P.-T. Association wishes to express its appreciation for the work of the teachers and believes that the local teachers, individually and as a group are at least equal of teachers in similar localities in training, ability, in interest in the pupils and community.
Additional plans were discussed on a clean-up program around the school and through the town. More definite plans-will be made and prizes (will be given for accomplishment.
Other discussions concerned report cards for another year and the teaching of religious education in the schools. The parents requested that the teachers vote for a grading system using the A, B, C, D, F, rather than the O, S, U, system. The parents gave their reasons by stating that the fivestep grading system was more easily understood by them than the three-step grading on report cards. The parents also expressed tiie opinion that religious education in the schools was a subject that required Very careful handling, and that they thought the teachers at present handled the situation adequately: Bible stories for the smaller children, and Bible reading and prayer for the older pupils. They said that it would be fine if a class in Bible could be taught in high school, but they did not consider now was the time to set up the program.
