tne present enrollment. The increase in the high school enrollment, and returning the fifth, sixth and seventh grades to the Washington center, would necessitate a new cafeteria in the addition. Another consideration in making an addition to either of the present buildings at Sperryville or Washington is the requirement of an adequate site. The present requirement for a new high school building or for the addition to a high school building is a site of ten acres plus one acre additional for every one hundred pupils enrolled above the first hundred. (Note: The site now owned by the School Board at Flat Woods contains approximately 20 acres.)

The School Board then requested an architect to confer with them regarding the possibility of making additions to either of the present plans. The architect pointed out many of the difficulties involved and stated H was his opinion that a suitable addition to either plant would cost almost as much as a new separate building
