Hold Local Meeting
The Culpeper Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors held a very interesting; and instructive meeting in Washington, on Wednesday, April 18, in the court room. The meeting was attended by educators, ministers, county . officials, agricultural professional workers and members of the farm training classes in the county. The objective of the meeting was to better inform the public of' the functions and activities of their Soil Conservation District
Dawning Wood, local conservation district supervisor, acted as chairman of the meeting. Several interesting talks highlighted the meeting. E. W. Mundie, extension conservationist, discussed the functions and the many ways in which a soil conservation district ' can serve the public. Rev. Paul Thompson, local minister, gave an impressive talk on man’s stewardship of the soil; iSchool Superintendent Q. D. Casque discussed the part that our educational system can and should play in an overall conservation program. C. E. John, son, Jr., fanner and director of the Rappahahnock National Bank, outlined the banker’s roll in conservation and the importance of non-inflationary credit to farmera for carrying out conservation work.
A most interesting and informal question and answer period followed the talks. It is the hope of the board of supervisors of the district that all influential people who have contact with others will stress the importance of and encourage the use of correct conservation practiqps on all agricultural lands.
