As a result of lack of farmer . interest.in .1950 . the -Rappahannock Agronomy Committee decided at its January meeting that the “100 Bushel Corn Club" had fulfilled its purpose in stimulating “higher corn yields per acre on less acres’’ and thus would not sponsor the contest this year.
However, at the Corn Club banquet held last week members reported more interest in their respective communities than in the past and suggested it be continued in 1951.
The Agronomy Committee and its co-sponsor Rappahannock Supply are anxious to continue their effort to stimulate corn yields and thus a 1951 CONTEST WILL BE* HELD PROVIDED A MINIMUM OP FIFTEEN ADULT AND JUNIOR FARMERS APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP! Rules and regulations for 1951 will be the same as those for last year. Each adult farmer must enter a minimum of three adjacent acres in adapted corn hybrid, while 4-H and FFA members must have.a minimum of one acre of corn. The membership fee for adults is $5.09, while that for junior farmers is $1. Membership fees are to cover costs of banquet and the remainder to be divided among win.
