Great Britain For Sending

War Materials To China

In a recent statement Senator Harry F. Byrd said: “I was a copatron on an amendment to the deficiency appropriation bill this week which will prohibit payment of European recovery funds to any nation that deals in strategic war materials with a country at war with the United States. The amendment was adopted unanimously by the Senate.

“This amendment is particularly aimed at Great Britain. Tne fact that Great Britain has been sending war materials to the Red Chinese through Hong Kong is to me a most outrageous procedure. -These war materials are being used not only against Americans in Korea but against the British troops iwho are there.

“To ship such materials to the Red Chinese will definitely prolong the Korean War. It must ba stopped immediately, otherwise, we should take strong steps to do so. I believe the adoption of the amendment of which I was a cosponsor, will ble a clear warning to Great Britain that she must change her course.
