Never did I expect to be a newspaperwoman, and never above all did I ever expect to write a column, or one with my name signed to it. But I guess that is much the safest way to write. As my good and faithful readers (and I do have a few) know I am not much of a columnist, but as one of my ' good friends said the other day, “It is a break in the paper.” I hope she meant a good break.

Washington never did see as many dressed up folks in one day as the day of the Rappahannock Carden Tour. They were everywhere, and from all reports and all the cars and the folks we saw, it was a huge success. Before long we’ll see Washington, Flint Hill and Amiss vilie on the road signs as well as. Massies Corner and SperryVille, which hhve been ahead of us along that line for some time, they have been on the road signs for years.

I read in the paper the other, day that General MacArthur is now having tailored civvies made, certainly must feel funny to him after all these years to settle down to the everyday way of living. It’s like the lovely lady after the night of the ball or Cinderella after the clock struck twelve.
