Despite extensions of deadlines and every effort on the part of the Office of Price Stabilization to assist merchants and others coming under ceiling price regulations, many grocers, restaurant operators, and merchants operating types of businesses controlled by OPS are lagging in their compliance with regulations. District OPS offices in Region IV—Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia—report that large numbers of those required by law to file forms, pricing charts, and other data have failed to do so to date. Apparently, says /OPS enforcement officials, many do not realize that there are penalties for non-compliance with ceiling price regulations. These penalties may include injunctions to prevent further conduct of business, or e nevfines of $10,000 and/or one year in prison. Where Farms May Be Secured
If you are one of those who still has not secured the necessary Office of Price Stabilization forms for compliance with ceiling price regulations, these may be gotten from your local bank or the nearest Chamber of Commerce, says OPS officials in the District office. An adequate supply of these forms has been supplied all banks and Chambers of Commerce in your area.
