Announcement is , made this week of the sale of The Madisov County Eagle at Madison and The Greene County Record at Stanardsville to E. Duff Green and Angus M. Green of Orange and Culpeper. The Messrs. Green are associated with their father in the publication of The Orange Review in Orange, and are already well known to many people locally. Effective date of ownership change from Basil C Burke, Jr., Madison Commonwealth’s Attorney, to the Greens .will be January 1, 1963.
Editing of the newspapers will continue unchanged with the offices of the Eagle remaining in Madison and those of the Record in Stanardsville. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy H. Beckmann at Madison and Mr. Lindsay Bickers at Stanardsville will remain as editor and managers, as before.
The Rappahannock News of Washington, Va., was also sold by Mr. Burke to the Messrs. Green, with editing and management remaining in Washington with Mrs. Sarah Latham.
