Will Speak in County
Roy N. Puckett, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools, will be guest lay speaker next Sunday morning at the 10 o’clock worship service at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville, and at il o’clock at the F. T. Church.
Mr. Puckett took his B.A. and M.A. degrees at the University of Richmond and pursued further graduate study at Cornell University. He has served as Assistant Principal at Richmond’s Thomas Jefferson High School and also as faculty member of the Richmond Professional Institute. He has been in the present position since 1956.
Prominent in educational circles and civic life, he has also served as teacher of Men’s Bible Class, President of the Baptist Brotherhood and Chairman of Board of Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church in Richmond.
Mr. Puckett served in World War II, Pacific Theatre from 1942 to 1946. He served for two years with the U.S. Amphibious Force in the Korean Conflict. He is currently serving as Commander, U.S. Naval Reserve, in charge of the Richmond Unit.
Mr. Puckett is listed in “Who’s Who in American Education’’ and in “Virginia Lives”. Governor Almond honored him by appointing him Aide-de-Camp to the Governor and upon election to office Governor Harrison reappointed him to serve in the same capacity. Married to the former Virginia Hall of Richmond, they have one daughter who is a high school junior.
In making the announcement by the guest lay speaker, the minister of the churches, the Reverend Clyde Franklyn Melton urges all members1 to be present and welcomes visitors to hear Mr. Puckett and worship with the local congregations.
