Honors Mrs. Wines
Mrs. Ruby Wines and Mrs. Hazel Williams were joint hostesses at a miscellaneous bridal shower Friday night honoring Mr. apd Mrs. “Wally” Wines who were married in Hagerstown, Maryland, on September 19th. Approximately thirty ladies were present at the Chester Gap Fire Hall. The honorees received many beautiful and useful gifts including those from several persons who were unable to attend. After a period of fun and games and the opening of the gifts delicious refreshments were served by the hostesses.
Samuel Jackson Frye
Samuel Jackson Frye of Sperryville died Sunday, October 7, at his residence. He was 73.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mittie Catherine Rutherford Frye; three daughters, Mrs. Ella Atkins of Sperryville, Mrs. Lester Dodson of Front Royal and Mrs. Clifton Frazier of Broadwayone son, Raymond Jackson Frye of Sperryville; 19 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.
Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Maggie Atkins of Sperryville, Mrs. Bertha Tharpe of Amissville, Mrs. Cora Jane Fincham, Mrs. Phoebe Frazier of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Verlie Atkins of Front Royal and Mrs. Arrie Tharpe of Rock- i ville, Md.; .and two brothers,! Nervie Frye of Flint Hill and | Carroll Frye of Sperryville. A native of Rappahannock County, Mr. Frye was a son of the late James Robert Frye and Emma Jane Pullen, his wife. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 10, from Beech Spring Regular Baptist Church of which he was a member. The Rev. Wayne Richards of Luray conducted last rites. The Geest Funeral Parlors were in charge of the arrangements.
