Eggs
Look for an adjustment in egg prices during the next week before an expected seasonal increase.
There has been a wide gap in the prices between Grade A large and Grade A mediums. This is starting to narrow and when it becomes closer, the gradual increase can be expected.
Virginia eggs reached a peak of 47 V2 cents for Grade A large during the last of September. Since that time prices have declined, and an adjustment is now expected before any increase.
The estimated number of hens in the months ahead is expected to be less than last year, but with the rate of lay continuing toi increase, egg production will be about the same.
The number of pullets not yet of laying age is reported to be down 12 per cent from last year.
Prices last week in Virginia were Grade A large 40-42 cents; mediums 32-34 cents; New York large whites 41 y2.
Broilers
A build up in the broiler supply picture indicates declining prices during the next several weeks.
