Members of the Women's Chib of the first Baptist Church were dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Julia B. Boddie on Friday, October 5. They held a most interesting and profitable meeting, followed by an enjoyable evening of games. ,Those present were Mrs. Ora Barbour, President; Mrs. Ethel Bailey, Secretary; Mrs. Havanna Jefferies, Treasurer; Mrs. Margaret Hunter, Vice President; Mrs. Virginia Fletcher, Ass’t Secretary; Mrs. Magdalene Bearing, Mrs. Julia White, Miss Catherine Carter, Miss Marie Bailey, Miss Linda Lou A^lor and Walter Freeman."

M''Sgt Cline, the local Army Recruiter for Rappahannock County, announced the enlistment into the Army of William Fletcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vandrew Fletcher, Washington and John R. Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Turner, Washington.
Upon completion of basic training at Ft. Jackson, S. C., Fletcher will be assigned duties hr the ^Automotive Maintenance Field and Turner will be assigned to Europe.

Handle Heptachlor

. The approved label for granular Heptachlor lists the following precautions: “HARMFUL if Swallowed”. I’ll say! — a friend of mine got some on his hands died several months later.
Like most poisons, heptachlor should be handled with respect and label precautions followed closely. They are not put there just for the fun of it—if followed, there seemingly is no need to worry.
It is the best known material for controlling alfalfa weevil, so use it—but be sure directions are followed. Other cautions: “AVOID inhalation (breathing) of dust or spray mist. Avoid skin contact, and wash hands, arms, and face with soap and water after using. Avoid contamination with feed and foodstuffs.”
Antidote: External — In case of spillage on skin, wash promptly with soap and water.
Internal: Emetic of 1 tablespoonful mustard in tumbler of water. Call a physician.
