By Tish Kilby The students entering RCHS as eighth graders were welcomed by many changes and new activities not enjoyed by previous classes. In May of last year the prospectives from the various grade schools in the county got a sneak preview at the physical features of the high school; but, It was not until this fall that they actually saw the “heart” of R.C.H.S.
The academic program is preplanned and includes General Math, General Science, English, U.S. History, Physical Education, Reading and Guidance. The newest additions to the curriculum are reading, taught as a supplementary subject, and Guidance, designed to prepare the students for future school years. Last year the S.C.A. published a handbook expressly to aid incoming students. On club Thursdays eighth graders enjoy 4-H club, Eighth Grade Home Ec. Club, Future Nurses I, besides the other climbs open to all students. First year boys have the opportunity toVaricipate in Junior
Varsity baseball. This is a
privilejfe not enjaved until I960. To enlrit school spirit the Cheerleadingf squad has given special attention to the eighth grade classes** A Pep Rally is being held fojr them this afternoon.
After six weeks, I wonder what you newcomers think of this grand place. Maybe I should wait until after the report cards are issued to ask that question. We seniors have certainly enjoyed R.C.H.S. as it has been and hope all other classes will hold an equal opinion, for it is, in my opinion, improving each year.
