No ^Penalty Called

The behavior of a vehicle belonging to Mrs. R. V. -Snead proved much more exciting than the Junior Varsity football game at Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal on Friday when Clarke County downed a Randolp-Macon team 34-7. Judge and Mrs. Snead attended the one sided 8th and 9th graders’ game to see their son Sam participate. According to an eye-witness, it was most uninteresting to see Clarke County’s junior varsity score almost at will but this was remedied when the Ford Falcon rolled down the hill into the bleachers with a loud crash, of splintering wood.

When the excitement had died down, it was found that no one had beep hurt and the damage to the stands and the car was minor.

Sam Snead’s comment was, “It’s the coolest thing that has happened all afternoon.”

In the final minutes of the game R-MA made their lone touchdown on a 40-yard run which was followed by a successful run for the extra point.

Shooting Match To

Benefit Fire Department

There will be a shooting match at the Chester Gap Carnival Grounds on Friday night, October 12 starting at 7 o’clock with proceeds going to the building fund of the Fire Department. Prizes will be beef, chickens and fresh pork. Twelve and sixteen gauge shotguns will be used.

Farm Bureau Directors Meet; Consider Resolutions

Board of Directors of Rappahannock County Farm Bureau met Monday evening, October 8. Primary business of the group was consideration of resolutions to be presented at the annual Btate Meeting which will be held in Richmond in November, -j.

Covered Dish Supper

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Flint Hill Fire Company will sponsor a covered dish dinner at the Fire Hall October 21 at 1 p.m. A silver offering will be taken to help purchase recreational equipment for the hall.
