Clerk, Died Dec. 18th

Miss Ruth Stevens of Flint Hill, Va. died December 18 in Winchester Memorial Hospital. She had entered the hospital Saturday with a heart condition. Miss Stevens had been deputy Clerk of the Court of Rappahannock since April 1935. v She was born June 16,1905 and was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Russell Wood of Flint Hill. There are no close survivors.

Funeral 'services will be held Thursday, December 20 at 2:30 p.m. from Flint Hill Baptist Church with inter< ment in the Washington Masonic Cemetery, Washington, Va. The Rev. Warren Wilbur will officiate. Pallbearers are C. J. Miller, Jr., D. D. Miller, W. A. Moore, Dr. John P. Snead, Jr., Dudley Wood and Charles Oli er. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.

Front Royal, Flint Hill

Bank Merger Approved

A merger of the First National Bank of Flint Hill and the Citizens National Bank of Front Royal won the appro al Wednesday of Currency Comptroller James J. Saxon. The merger is effective Jan. 1. The $5 72,000 Flint Hill bank will take the name of the $7 million Front Royal bank, the Associated Press said in a dispatch from Wash, ington.
