Altha Lewis Brown
Atha Lewis' Brown, formerly of Sperryville, died Thursday December 13, 1962, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Beulah Armentrout, near Wood\ ille, where he had made his home in recent years. Son of the late George J. Brown and Lucy Jenkins, his wife, and a native of Rappahannock County, he was 87. He is survLed by two sons, Richard R. Brown of Culpeper and James Floyd Brown of Front Royal; four daughters, Mrs. Armentrout, Mrs. Katie Wayland of Woodville, Mrs. Lucille Corbin of Chevy Chase, Md., and Mrs. Lucy Creel of Culpeper; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Sunday, December 16, at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church, Sperryville, of which Mr. Brown was a member, the Rev.^.C. • F. -Melton, .pastor,, conducting the last fites. TnterriVfrtfTtfl-'* lowed in Fair\iew Cemetery at Culpeper where Masonic rites were conducted by members of Washington Lodge NO. 78, A.F. & A.M., of which he was a member. Members of the lodge also served as pallbearers. Arrangements were handled by Geest Funeral Parlors.
Jack Singleton
Jack Singleton, 45, died suddenly Friday, December 7, at his home in Shenandoah, Virginia. Mr. Singleton, a former resident of Sperryville, was the son of the late Erasmus Singleton and Mrs. Bessie Herndon Singleton of Shenandoah. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Workman Singleton, one sister, Mrs. Clarice Clark of Sperryville; three brothers, Harry Singleton of
