it seems that more effort could be made in this phase of safety. At RCHS, we have, as all the students know, Detention Hall. Time must be put in, during lunch period, in Detention Hall when a teacher' feels punishment is necessary for a certain student. During the past few weeks a list has been drawn up by the faculty giving a certain amount of time in Detention Hall for some of the more serious offenses; one of these is Insubordination, 5 hours. Five hours in Detention Hall amounts to twenty min-, utes a day for three weeks. Surely, if a student acts in class in such a way that his actions could be judged as insubordination, more serious action should be taken than five hours in Detention' Hall. When it is firmly established that a student has been insubordinate to one of his instructors, that student should be removed from that class until such time as the School Board can act on his case.
